Obituary

Regina (Reggie) Markoya, age 92 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Helen (Eva) and Vincent Purzycki of Bridgeport. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Joseph J. Markoya. In her youth Reggie ran and did the hurdles for the Polish Falcons and had the medals to prove how fast she could run and jump. Reggie retired from Bead Chain Company after many years of service. She loved her New York Yankees staying up to all hours until the last out. She was also a devoted UCONN Huskies fan, both cheering on the men's and women's teams. She was a devoted parishioner of Holy Cross Church for over sixty years. Survivors include her son Thomas Markoya of Fairfield, a daughter Diane Markoya of Stratford, a sister-in-law Mary Purzycki of Monroe, a niece and three nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Chester Purzycki. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30a.m., at Holy Cross Church. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Monday morning from 8:30a.m. to 10:00a.m., in the Redgate -  Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
