IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Remma
Akopyants
September 18, 1937 – November 5, 2025
Remma (Ripsina) Ivanovna Akopyants passed away on Wednesday night, November 5, 2025. Remma was the fourth of six children born to Ivan Khachaturov and Mariya Bulanaya. Their family lived through periods of social and political struggle in the young Soviet Union, which forced them to relocate often within the North Caucasus region. Remma later married her husband, Georgiy Akopyants, with whom she raised three daughters in the city of Baku. Remma can be described as a compassionate, courageous, loving, and spiritual person. She always treated her family as the blessing of her life, living her life more for their sake than even her own. During the ambitious and strenuous move to America, a country in which she could not even speak the native language, her family grew by five grandchildren who affectionately called her "Babuka". No matter how hard life got, Remma always gave her all for her children and grandchildren. Even after she became a widow, she continued to tirelessly support them in every endeavor. Babuka will be fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched with grace and depth. In her later years, when she had become so old that she became a child again herself, Remma was a vessel of pure love to anyone who looked into her eyes and held her hand. The love that Remma has imparted to all those who knew her will carry her legacy forward forever. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11am meeting directly in Presentation of Christ Russian Orthodox Church, Stratford. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
