Obituary

Richard E. Brackett, age 66 of Stratford passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Stephanie G. Stromdahl Brackett. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Clinton and Helen Jasenec Brackett and had been a Stratford resident for the past 40 years. Richard was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1965 and worked for many years in engineering at Sikorsky Aircraft. He was later employed by Home Depot and Bridgeport Exterminating Company. Richard was an avid boater and fisherman and was a lifetime member of Pequonnock Yacht Club. He loved TV, always rooting for the Price is Right, loved traveling, especially cruising, and had gone many wonderful places with Stephanie. Cars of all kinds were a passion, as were comedy, good food and entertaining. He loved playing cards, especially with his Friday night Pinochle group and enjoyed all kinds of games with his grandchildren. He was a great conversationalist and had a vibrant sense of humor. He was a generous man who loved birthdays, holidays, and gift-giving.  In addition to his much loved wife Stephanie, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Alison Valli and her husband Robert, cherished grandchildren William and Katherine of Sewickley, PA. He is also survived by a niece, nephews, cousins and sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 11:00a.m., in United Presbyterian Church, 109 Seaside Avenue, Milford, CT 06460 with Reverend Anne Marie Meyerhoffer officiating.
