Robert J. Burdo of Milford, CT, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away on Wednesday September 3, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Linda Casano Burdo for 53 years. Born in Bridgeport, on November 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Vincent and Mary Esposito Burdo.
Bob lived a life of faith, family, friends, good food, and happy times. He was a graduate of Central High School Bridgeport, attended the American Institute of Banking and had a 32 year career working for Connecticut National Bank, and Chase Bank followed by positions at Hoffman Fuel and Sippin Energy. He also worked for retailers part-time for many years in their credit and collections departments as well as a part-time night manager for Stop and Shop.
Bob was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Cabrini Knights of Columbus as well as a lifetime member. He was an active member of St. Andrew Church serving on many committees and, as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also active in many organizations, including the parent teacher committees of his children's schools, a Vice Chairman of the Bridgeport Mayor's Commission on Seniors, and was a past president of the Consumer Credit Association of Connecticut. In retirement he volunteered at St. Vincent's Medical Center and St. Joseph's Center in Trumbull.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, daughter and son-in law, Lauren and Rafael Ocasio, son Stephen Burdo, grandchildren Sara and Rafael Ocasio whom he adored, Brother and Sisters in Law, Philip and Marie Burdo, Joy Burdo, Patricia Casano, Brother in Law, William Casano and partner Tara Cestero, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Burdo.
Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Andrew Church, 395 Anton St. Bridgeport, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday September 12 at 11:00am. The family will be receiving those who attend from 10:30a.m. until Mass time. Burial will follow at Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to:
St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
