Robert F. Pogasnik, age 90 of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was born in Chicago, IL, son of the late Frank and Christine Obruchay Pogasnik. Robert soon moved to the Bridgeport area where he spent the rest of his life, and was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, class of 1938. He entered the U.S. Army serving during World War II, where he fought on the beaches of Normandy. Upon his return from the service, he began his career as a machine operator for the Bullard Company, Bridgeport. While at Bullard's he would travel the world for many years installing and training new users, all the while appreciating their culture, hospitality and a good martini. Robert is survived by his beloved niece and nephew Lynn Keegan and husband Raymond of Newtown, and Kenneth Csehak and wife Karin of Trumbull, a dear friend Bernard Jones of Bridgeport, loving caregiver Maria Podsklanova, three great nephews Jeff Thomas, K.C. Csehak, Kris Csehak, and a great niece Christine Carroll and husband Chuck, and three great great nieces. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Csehak. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Andrew Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private with full military honors at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
