Obituary

Ronald (Ron) Kearns, age 80, of Seymour, former Shelton resident, died Saturday November 5, 2011 at his home.  Ron was born June 23, 1931, in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Francis and Vera Kearns.  He played football at Central High School, making a key touchdown on Thanksgiving Day.  He later served in the US Navy during the Korean War.  Once returning home, he became a member of the Sheet Metal Union working most of his career at Danbury Sheet Metal.   In 1962, he married the late Judith (Judy) Ciglar Kearns and had six children.  Ron is survived by Robin M. Kearns and her husband Mark D. McGuire, Robert (Bob) Kearns and his wife Sue Kearns of Florida, Dawn Dow and her husband Richard Dow, Patricia (Patty) Samoskevich and her husband Fred Samoskevich, Ronald (Ron) Kearns and his wife Sarah Kearns, John Kearns and his wife Jennifer Kearns.  There are 13 grandchildren, Elisha Dow, Nicole Dow, Kaitlyn Dow, Erin McGuire, Heather McGuire, Ryan McGuire, Melissa Samoskevich, Madison and Matthew Samoskevich, Molly Kearns, Oliver Kearns, Ashley Kearns, and Sarah Kearns.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11AM meeting directly at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will be on Friday at 10AM in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday 3:00pm – 7:00pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Scleroderma Foundation, Attn Donations, 300 Rosewood Drive, Ste 105, Danvers, MA 01923 or visit www.scleroderma.org .  To send on-line condolences, please visit www.redgatehennessy.com
