Rosa Melone Caserta, age 88, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Domenico Caserta, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Rosa was born in Province Castel Di Sasso, Prea, Italy, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppina Petrucelli Melone and grew up a farm girl in the beautiful country side of Italy, coming to the United States 47 years ago. A devoted wife and mother, she was a retired seamstress having worked for 10 years at Crown Foundation, Bridgeport. Rosa had a love for gardening, both flower and vegetable, and enjoyed needlework and crocheting, especially making baby booties for all the family. Survivors include her loving daughter, Gilda Caserta of Bridgeport, a brother, Antonio Melone of Prea, Italy and many nieces and nephews; also her caregiver Evelyn Valentin, who for over four years gave Rosa loving care. She was predeceased by a sister and brother, Concetta and Gennaro Melone. Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 10:30 am. from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 11:15 am. in St. Margaret's Shrine, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. Friends may call Wednesday, 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
