Attorney Rudolph Albin Shupik Sr. passed away Saturday March 17, 2012 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was 94 years old. He was born in Passaic N.J, February 1, 1918. He received a scholarship to the University of Arkansas for football and boxing. He was also on the Golden Gloves Boxing Team. While at the U. of A. he met his future wife Helen Nifong Barron. He graduated with a B.S in 1941. He joined the military and married Helen Barron on May 26, 1942 before going to the pacific theater. His unit was one the first into Japan before the signing of the surrender. Returning back to Arkansas he was accepted into the University Law School where he received his L.L.B. and was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1951. From 1951-54 he became the tax specialist to Westinghouse Electric Corp, Pittsburgh, PA, and wrote the tax laws for PA. From 1955-78 he was Director, General Counsel and Vice President of Frouge Corp. In 1962 he became one of a select group of Attorneys to have the right to argue law in the U.S tax court, U.S Supreme Court and the U.S Treasury Department. He was entered into Who's who in America 1962-63. In 1969 while in England he became a member of London's Prestigious Wig and Pen Club. He did Pro Bono work for those displaced after WWII, Poles in Poland and the U.S. He is predeceased by his parents Ludwig and Mariann (Bruzek) Shupik, his brothers Julius, Joseph and Alfred, his mother-in—law Helen Barron, his daughter Mary Helen and his son Rudolph A. Shupik Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Helen N. Shupik, his son Dr. Michael Shupik, a niece Sandra Swift and grandchildren Meryn McHenry and Ruddy Shupik. There will be no service as he will be interred in Virginia near his son Rudolph Jr. Friends may donate to U of A football, Connecticut Hospice or the ASPCA.
