Ruth Serke, age 81, wife of the late Joseph S. Serke Jr., died on July 31, 2007 at Sun Grove Village Health Care after a long illness with her children at her side. She was born October 3, 1925 in Bridgeport to William and Claire Haffey Ahern. She was a lifelong resident before moving to Peoria, AZ with her daughter in 1998. Mrs. Serke was a homemaker who was devoted to her family and made everyone feel welcome in her home. She enjoyed bowling, Jai Lai, and most of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Joseph Serke and wife Patricia of Trumbull, daughter Karen Peters of Peoria, AZ, beloved grandchildren Josette Scaccia and husband Marco of Trumbull, Joseph S. Serke and wife Rebekah of Oxford, and Kaitlyn and Shawn Peters of Peoria, great grandchildren, Marc Anthony and Sabrina Scaccia and Isabella and Kaylah Serke, brother William Ahern and wife Doris of Milford and sister-in-law Connie Ahern of Florida and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she is predeceased by her brothers Robert, James, and Richard Ahern. Mrs. Serke was a kind and loving women with a quick laugh and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 10:15 am from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and 11:00 am in St Theresa Church, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial.
