Sally Ann Sherwood passed on to eternal life on April 14, 2010 at Cambridge Manor, Fairfield, after a life full of love, energy and achievement. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Sherwood. She was born in Bridgeport, CT, March 16, 1928, daughter of the late Roger and Anamae Connelly and was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School and Harding HS. After marriage and 9 children, Sally divided her time between caring for family, selling real estate, managing a sportswear shop and traveling the U.S. as "stage mother" with her family, who performed in the National Co. of Sound of Music. She loved beautiful things and fine clothing, appeared on stage at Lincoln Center, and did modeling and TV commercials. A Fairfield resident for 50 years, she was optimistic and active socially and politically. Sally served 4 terms on the Ffld. RTM co-chairing Education. She was president of the Federation of Democratic Women, member of Fairfield Women's Club, National Assoc. of Realtors, Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and Assumption Church Guild. This Irish colleen loved art, music, friends, photography and cruising the islands with her husband, Bob. She is survived by 7 children: Kyle Ralston (Bob), Dawn Galemba (Leon), Robin Benak (Craig), Robert "Duke" Sherwood (Deborah) all of Fairfield, CT, Holly Sherwood of Albuquerque, NM, Alison Stubenhaus of LA, CA and Roger "Bart" Sherwood of Brooklyn, NY; 2 sisters Mary O'Brien (Ray) of Hingham, MA, Barbara Milo of Bpt, CT; 2 brothers Roger Connelly (Pat) of Ansonia, CT and Barry Connelly of MA; 20 wonderful grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a large family. She was predeceased by 2 children: "Bobby" Sherwood of Fairfield and Mindy Montes of Albuquerque, NM and sister, Delores Goldemen (Bill) of PA. Before her death Sally achieved a personal dream, living again by the sea on Long Island Sound. She will be deeply missed. The family thanks the staff of Cambridge Manor, especially Kent 1, for their professionalism and kindness to Sally in her last years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00am meeting directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial.
