Scott Donald Huard Jeffery, age 49 of Trumbull, died Friday, January 28, 2011, at home, surrounded by his loving family, from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Son of Donald and the late Marjorie Jeffery of Trumbull, Scott was born in Cleveland, Ohio and had also lived in New Jersey, Arizona, Tennessee and the United Kingdom . He first moved to Trumbull in 1972 and attended the public schools in that town. His career in finance led him to work for Litton Industries, Texaco Inc. and Crane Co. before he launched a successful tax preparation business in Norwalk in 2006. Scott is survived by his beautiful wife, friend and caregiver, Karin , with whom he had spent 30 wonderful years of marriage and adventure; his loving children Andrew and Kelly; his father, Donald of Trumbull; his brother and wife, Craig and Suzanne of Peachtree City, GA; sisters Jane, Holly and Megan of Anaheim, CA, Rutland, VT and Seekonk, MA, respectively; his father and mother in law, Hal and Barbara Thormahlen of Norwalk; his sister in law, Tina Thormahlen of Brooklyn, NY and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Scott earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Connecticut and his M.B.A. from the University of Memphis. Scott had been blessed to serve in leadership capacities at local religious, educational, charitable and homeowner institutions and appreciated the dedication of the talented individuals with whom he had the chance to work. Until stricken with ALS, Scott had the gift of excellent health and enjoyed participating in many activities, including running, bicycling, swimming and working alongside his family at their home. Under the inspired leadership of his wife as team captain, Scott proudly swam in the St. Vincents Swim Across the Sound relay for four years, helping the team to raise over $65,000 to benefit cancer patients in the Fairfield County area. During his illness, Scott enjoyed tremendously the company of many, especially the hours spent with his father with whom many laughs were shared. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 10:00am at Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main Street, Trumbull.
