Shirley Frances Tisdell Turning, age 80 of Trumbull died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Turning. She was born February 6, 1931 in Wooster Massachusetts. A wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Shirley spent 10 years as a travel agent, loved her job, and taking cruises. Survivors include her loving children,Thomas G. Turning of Lexington, Gerald M. Turning and his wife, Barbara of Tinton Falls, NJ, Beverly J. Philyaw of Hawthorne, CA, and Laura Mott and her husband Ken of Trumbull, grandchildren, Jerry M. Turning Jr., Michele J. Swope, Travis G. Turning, Anisa Philyaw, Jenna Philyaw, Samantha Mott, Kevin George Mott, great grandchildren, Anna Kate Turning, Eric Gerald Turning, Rylee J. Swope, Andrew Ryan Swope, sisters and brother, Dorothy T. Rheiu, Joseph A. Tisdell,  Mildred M. Pedro, M Diane Driscoll. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Mildred Roach Tisdell, her brother, Norman Tisdell Jr., and her great granddaughter, Alyssa Rose Swope.  Friends may call Monday (TODAY) 4-7pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. A Prayer Service will begin at 4:30pm. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 12:30pm at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
