Stanley J Greenwood, age 97 of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Jenny Laporta Greenwood, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on December 7, 2016. Born in Bridgeport CT on November 28 1919 son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth Hawkins Greenwood. He was a resident of Trumbull and parishioner of St Theresa's for 63 years. A WWII US Army Veteran serving for 42 months in the Aleutian Islands, and the European campaign in Belgium, France, and Germany. He was a self-employed builder who constructed many homes in the area. He served on the Trumbull Flood and Erosion Commission, was a member of the Gaelic American Club, Old Timers Association, and AOH. He was known amongst his family and neighbors as the Lollipop Man. Survived by his son James and Debbie Greenwood of Monroe; daughters Nancy and Robert Maglione of Beacon Falls; Joan Greenwood of Bridgeport; Sally and Dennis Carroll of Shelton; Patricia and James Fogle of Monroe. Grandchildren Kelly and husband Jason Takacs; Kristen and husband Michael Gill; Jill Greenwood and Alex Wroblewski; Brian and wife Kimberly Maglione; Kaitlyn and Megan Carroll; James Jr., Thomas, and Jenny Fogle. Great-grandchildren Ethan, Aidan and Brady Takacs; Alexa and Avery Gill; and Kara Maglione. Brother Richard and wife Jane Greenwood, and Brother-in-Law Charles Felix. He was predeceased by siblings John, Thomas, Robert, and Ruth. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30a.m., meeting directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8p.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
