IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan Linsley
Rankin
August 6, 1947 – October 30, 2022
Susan Linsley Rankin, age 75 of Trumbull, beloved wife of Andrew A. Rankin, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, in Bridgeport Hospital. Susan was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Herbert and Barbara Plumb Linsley and was a bookkeeper for Rankin Textile Printing.
Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was charismatic, kind and generous. She adored her family and friends, and we are all incredibly lucky to have had her in our lives. We will continue to hold on to our precious memories of Susie. Memories of family vacations to the Florida Keys and summers spent on Cliff Island will always be special. Sunday breakfasts, birthdays and holiday dinners with Susie were always inviting, warm and filled with love and laughter. We will never forget when she first met each of her grandchildren. Her joy radiated from her heart and the love in the room was tangible.
Susie was certainly one of a kind. She was creative and had unique taste. She was the treasurer for the Southern Connecticut Polymer Clay Guild and enjoyed creating with clay almost as much as she appreciated others' works of art. She loved to collect different pieces of colorful and interesting artifacts, including teapots and Japanese Kimonos. Susie was partial to orchids and the color green. She admired the extraordinary and unusual. She also loved to knit, and we will continue to cherish the scarves, hats and socks that she gifted us over the years. Susie was also an avid reader, always ready with a great book recommendation. In her library you could find a plethora of cookbooks, as cooking was another one of her talents. She was not afraid to try eclectic recipes and different styles of cooking. She warmed our bellies, just as she warmed the hearts of anyone lucky enough to get to know her.
Susie was quick-witted and able to think on her feet. She was a problem solver who had a knack for making things work out despite circumstance. Her positive and candid outlook on life helped others put things in perspective. Susie's laugh was just as big as her heart. She was most content when she knew the people around her were happy. We will miss her radiant laughter, her thoughtfulness, her selflessness and her generosity, but her affection for us will always remain in our hearts.
"Our joys will be greater, our love will be deeper, our life will be fuller because we shared her moment."
Survivors in addition to her husband include three devoted sons Alexander Rankin and wife Sara of Newtown, John Rankin of Trumbull, and Charles Rankin and wife Michelle of Newtown, four cherished grandchildren Ruby Rose, Stella, Gavin and Dylan. She was predeceased by a brother Peter Linsley.
