CONNELL, Theresa Brannelly, of Easton, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Connell, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2008. Born in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Patrick James and Anne McCarthy Brannelly, Theresa was a resident of Easton for 46 years. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and the University of Connecticut School of Social Work with a Master of Social Work. During her 35-year career with the State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services, she rose to the level of District Director for Fairfield and Hartford counties having earlier served as Case Worker, Case Supervisor, Program Supervisor and Assistant District Director. She later served as Special Assistant to the Commissioner of the Department of Social Services. Theresa's service on and participation in numerous boards and charitable organizations included: Board of Counselors, People's Bank; Chairperson of the Public Service Division for the United Way of Eastern Fairfield County and recipient of the Norman Leeds Award for the most outstanding volunteer; member, Board of Directors and Chairperson of Service & Rehabilitation for the Connecticut Chapter of the American Cancer Society; member, Lauralton Hall Board of Directors and Executive Committee and Chairperson of the Development Committee; member and Secretary of the Advisory Board for Sacred Heart University; member and Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging; member, Kennedy Center Board of Directors, Annual Meeting and Legislative Committees and Four Seasons Ball Chairperson; Dedication Committee Chairperson, Easton Community Center; Easton Fire Commission member; Volunteer staff, International Institute; President and Treasurer, Board of Directors member and Tri-Chairperson for the Cardinal Shehan Center year-long fortieth anniversary celebration; St. Joseph's Manor League President and Chairperson for the first four major annual fundraisers; member, American Red Cross Board of Directors. Theresa was also a long-time parishioner of Notre Dame of Easton and member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Gaelic-American Club. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Mary Anne Sheehan and husband, John of White Plains, NY; sister, Mary B. Sullivan and husband, Robert J., Sr. of Trumbull; and a cherished granddaughter, Ciara Anne Sheehan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Lawrence P. Brannelly and John M. Brannelly and a sister Anne B. Fenton. Friends may call Tuesday, July 1 from 3-8 p.m. at Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame of Easton, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton.
