Obituary

Thomas M. Brennan, age 76 of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully June 12, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife Dale Brennan, daughter Jodie Delach and her husband Michael, son Michael Brennan and his wife Vivienne, and daughter Danielle Bartlett and her husband Michael. He was predeceased by his cherished son Ryan Charles Brennan.

Tom was born in Bridgeport on May 30, 1947 son of the late Robert J. and Roselyn Murray Brennan, Sr. He attended St. Augustine's School, and was a 1965 graduate of Bassick High School.

Gifted with tremendous ambition, and an incredibly strong work ethic, Tom was determined to just go for it after high school. He quickly found success in the data processing field, working at Dresser Industries, Bridgeport City Hall, and Burndy. Upon purchasing his first home, he decided if he was going to be a homeowner, he needed to learn as much as possible, so he signed-up for a property management course. His quick pace in life resulted in him accidentally signing-up for the wrong course – a real estate licensing course. He decided he would just take it anyway, and that's where he found his true life's passion.

Shortly after receiving his real estate license, he interviewed at a local company and was turned away being told he was not qualified, before eventually landing a job at Fairfield County Real Estate in their Stratford office – he quickly became their number one agent, and ultimately their office manager. His real estate prowess and reputation began growing exponentially over the years, resulting in him being noted as the #1 realtor in the nation two years in a row (1978 and 1979), as cited in several articles.

That was not enough for Tom, he wanted more. In September 1979, he opened Tom Brennan Real Estate in Trumbull, CT. His company became synonymous with Results, and barreled its way into the Fairfield County market, eventually operating seven real estate offices, a mortgage brokerage firm named The Mortgage Consulting Group (one of the first of its kind), as well as the successful Tom Brennan Insurance Company.

Even when life became incredibly busy, Tom always made sure he found time for the things that mattered most to him. A fierce lover and protector of his family, he cherished all the times he spent with them. His parents' deep sense of goodness was embedded in him, and with this spirit he volunteered, supported and served on many boards and committees and was a member of many clubs including; several Real Estate boards, The President's Circle at Fairfield University, the Stags Booster Club, the Cardinal Shehan Center, Friend's of the Principal at Lauralton Hall, the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, The Cardinal Shehan Center, The Barnum Festival, The Gaelic American Club, and the S.S. Norden Club.

In addition to his wife and children, Tom is survived by the loves of his life, his nine grandchildren; Andrew, Matthew and Samantha Delach, Connor and Audrey Brennan, Ella, Olivia, Charley, and Tyler Bartlett, his sister-in-law; Alyson Brennan, brother; Daniel E. Brennan and wife Charlene, and sister; Mary Ellen Brennan-Connelly and husband Chris, as well as countless other nieces, nephews, cousins, and 'outlaws'. In addition to his son Ryan, he was predeceased by his adored brothers Atty. Robert J. Brennan, Jr. and Shaun Murray Robert Brennan, as well as his nephew Robert J. Brennan III.

Tom lived life with passion and was one of the most fun, outgoing, loving and incredibly generous people we have been blessed to have in our lives. His great successes in life enabled him to do what he loved most – to help and support others. Vermont became a hub where he could gather his abundant family and be able to spend quality time playing the question game at dinner, or challenging all to an arm wrestling match (which he never lost!). He loved cowboy boots, so why not buy a horse, aptly named 'Broker'. He also had a need for speed, so he got a Harley Davidson – but not just any Harley, a bright purple one! Never lost for a story to tell, he had the art of sharing them in such a way that you couldn't help but smile, with all his added antidotes. Tom lived his life, shared life and welcomed all into his.
