Obituary

Thomas Edward Mangines, age 91 of Fairfield passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis Brennan Mangines. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Emil and Margaret Greene Mangines. Thomas was a U.S. Naval Veteran proudly serving during World War II. He was a graduate of University of Bridgeport and Northeastern University Law School in Boston. He was a Founding Partner in the Law Firm - Mangines and Mangines, Member of the Connecticut and D.C. Bar Associations, the US District Court of Connecticut, the US Southern District Court of New York and the US Second Circuit Court of Appeals. A Federal Judge called him "the most charming but disarming lawyer he ever saw in his courtroom".  He was Past Chairman of Park City Hospital Board of Trustees, Vice President of Employee Relations at Casco Industries, Senior Executive VP of Human Resources and Industrial Relations at Phillips Medical Systems, Inc. in Shelton.   Thomas was a long time member of Brooklawn Country Club and The Country Club of Boca Raton in FL. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Thomas Aquinas Mangines and Matthew Paul Mangines. Survivors include his loving children, James Edward Mangines and his wife Heidi  of Fairfield, Mary Elizabeth Daly of Del Ray Beach, FL , Pam Weldon and her husband Robert of Boca Raton, FL, Joseph Mangines of Sarasota, FL, Karla Brennan of Sarasota, FL, and Attorney Brian Mangines and his wife Mary of Boca Raton, FL., eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter. He is also survived by daughter in law, Theresa Mangines (Thomas A), two sisters in law, Doris Emerick of Stratford and Marjorie Mackey of Baton Rouge, LA two brothers in law, Bob Brennan of Virginia and Claude Lynch of Arizona. He was also predeceased by two grandchildren, and two sisters, Lynne Deininger and Marjorie Lynch.  Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing Wednesday from 4pm-6pm at Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11am meeting directly in St. Ann's Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport.
