Obituary

Thomas G. Nolan, age 91 of Southbury, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 in his home. Thomas was born in Bridgeport, son of the late William P. and Marie McCarrick Nolan, and resided in Trumbull before moving to Southbury twenty-five years ago. He was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport, an Army veteran of World War II, and retired as the head of the Social Services Division for the State of Connecticut. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was an active supporter of the Special Olympics, various veterans groups, and the American Cancer Society. Survivors include his beloved sister Marguerite Eldridge of Sandy Hook, a niece Terry Lyman of Sandy Hook, and a nephew Alfred Killing II of Florida. He was predeceased by a brother Lawrence Nolan and a sister Patricia Killing. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Monday at 11:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford (enter main gate of cemetery and follow to funeral home sign on left). In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Thomas's memory to the V.A. Connecticut Health Care System, Blind Center, 950 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, CT 06516.
