Vera Manente in DiDonato, 93, passed away peacefully after a valiant fight at Bridgeport Hospital on Wednesday, August 7, with her husband and family at her side.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Vincenzo DiDonato, her daughter, Angela DIDonato, granddaughter Amanda Markoya and her husband Charles Anderson and her cherished great grandson Rhys Anderson. She was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings and their spouses but is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and their children both here and in Italy.  She had a special place in her heart for her niece Catherine LaChioma and her husband, Michael their daughter Nikole Kirkpatrick, her husband Greg and their children Maeve and Lachlan as well as "her" Sophia and Francesco DiDonato who visited her in the states.  Vera had a wonderful life and was fortunate to be loved by so many generations. Vera was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport but visited Italy 63 years ago with her mother and met and married the love of her life. Vera was a wife, mother and grandmother who loved being surrounded by her family, especially her great grandson. She was a devout catholic who was a parishioner of St Andrew parish since it opened, she prayed the rosary and attended mass daily.   Having a sweet tooth,  she loved to bake especially the traditional Italian Easter Pies and Christmas cookies.  She enjoyed crocheting and word searches. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull.
