As part of the war effort, during World War II, Violet worked in the Tool Crib of Curtiss Wright Aircraft Co. After spending most of her early life in Buffalo, the family then moved to Chicago, where Violet greatly enjoyed working, for many years, in the infant department of Gassmans Clothing Store. Upon retirement she and Carl moved Burlington, VT, where she loved church, family, and friends and was known for her charming smile and gentle ways. In 2001 she moved to St. Joseph's Manor, where she resided until her death. Violet was predeceased by her husband Carl, her daughter Joyce Zajchowski and her husband Joseph. Survivors include her daughter, Lois McKinney and husband Robert, her grandchildren, Kasia Tolbert, Steve Zajchowski, Carol Albertini, Laura Zajchowski/Hall, Greg Zajchowski, David Zajchowski, Sue McKinney, Robert McKinney, Colleen Chesney, Michael McKinney, and Brian McKinney, 14 great grandchildren. The family greatly appreciates the loving and attentive care of the staff at St. Joseph's Manor. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to St. Joseph's Manor, 6448 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611, would be deeply appreciated.
