William Acevedo, age 93 a resident of Los Angeles, California died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Berkeley East Convalescent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ferruccio Acevedo. Born in Moca, Puerto Rico to the late Juan and Genara Mendez Acevedo, Mr. Acevedo had lived in the Los Angeles area for the past 20 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was a waiter in restaurants and nightclubs and a professional watchmaker. Mr. Acevedo loved music and dancing, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He had a special devotion to the Rosary and Saint Theresa. Survivors include his daughter, Ann Marie Schiessl and her husband Anton of Fairfield, son William J. Acevedo and his wife Angel of Texas, three grandchildren, Marie Mattix of Pennsylvania, Willie John Acevedo and Andrea Russell of Texas, four great grandchildren, Natalie, Makenzie, Nicholas and Jonathan, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 14, 2009 at 9:30am directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial.
