William A. Boyd, age 75 of Trumbull died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Bridgeport hospital after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley, his two daughters, Laurie and Ceilyn, sons-in-law Stephen and Angel and one grandson Enrique. Bill was born on August 14, 1932 in Elizabeth, N.J. to the late Florence and Major Boyd. He had been a resident of Trumbull since 1978. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian language specialist from 1952-1956. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1964 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Chemistry. After that he held several positions at Stauffer Chemical Co. in Westport, CT and Rhone-Poulence in Cranbury, NJ in technical sales, product management and as manager of technical services. He had a passion all his life for photography and was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Camera Club. His interests also included Tai Chi, tennis, bowling and traveling to exotic places. Bill was "one of the good guys", and an especially devoted father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by family and friends. Survivors also include two sisters Wilma and Florence, and a brother, Ronald. He was predeceased by another brother, Major Jr. A brief farewell service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 11:00am in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 10:00am – 11:00am in the funeral home. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
