William J. Haines, age 89 of Trumbull died Monday, October 26, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian McIntosh Haines. Born in Fairfield on June 9, 1926 he was the son of William J. and Elsie Pitch Haines. He was a resident of Trumbull for more than 60 years. Mr. Haines graduated from Bassick High School, Class of 1944, was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran serving during World War II in the Merchant Marines and retired from Remington Arms after 39 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 in Shelton, the Washington Masonic Lodge No. 19 AF & A M, and member of the Pyramid Shriners. He loved boating and gardening and was a member of first the East End and then Miamogue Yacht Clubs. He is survived by his son Gary Haines and his wife Joan, daughter Deborah Bell and her husband Glenn, six grandchildren, Jason Bell, Lori Bell Ginelewicz, Matthew Haines, Megan Malay, Kyle Haines, and Kelly Haines, and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00am in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull with Military Honors. Interment will be private.
