William Kamszik, age 92, of Easton, beloved husband of the late Florence LeBrun Kamszik, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Cambridge Manor. Bill was born in Whiting, Indiana, son of the late Jacob and Suzanna Kamszik, and has resided in Easton since 1978. He attended Read School, Congress Jr. High, and Bullard Havens Technical School. Bill was a carpenter before serving in World War II with the 9th US Army Air Corp and U.S. Air Force, served at Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, the Rhineland, and Ardennes, receiving 5 Battle Stars. Mr. Kamszik joined the Bridgeport Police Department upon his return from the war and served 28 years as a Patrolman before retiring. Bill was an usher at Notre Dame of Easton Church, and past member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Company #1. His passions were his beloved New York Mets, as well as horseshoes and bowling, winning numerous championships in each sport.
Survivors include his children, William T. Kamszik of Cary, NC, Sally Rinaldi and husband Dan of Cheshire, Nancy Atchue and husband Earl of Paxton, MA, and Michael J. Kamszik of Easton, seven grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 AM at Notre Dame of Easton Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
