Obituary

Dr. William J. McPadden Sr., D.M.D., 88 of Easton, CT.  the beloved husband of Maureen Daley McPadden for 57 years,  passed away Sunday December 5, 2010. Bill is survived by his children Dr. William McPadden Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Easton, Edward McPadden and Dr.Terry Boyle of Austin Texas, James McPadden of Easton, Maureen McPadden of Kittery Maine, and Ellen and Ron Ellis of  Stratham, New Hampshire.  He is also survived by his grand children Shaena and Patrick McPadden, Erin and Kyle McPadden, and Barrett, Brigham, and Channie Ellis; and his brother Dr Edward McPadden of Fairfield .  Dr. McPadden is pre-deceased by his brother James  McPadden and sisters Catherine Coyne and Cecelia Cullen. Bill was born in Bridgeport going to school at Sacred Heart and St Augustine Grammar Schools.  He Graduated from Bassick High School , the University of Connecticut , and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He was an Army Air Corps. Veteran of the Second World War and during the Korean Conflict served as a Captain in the Air Force. Dr. McPadden practiced dentistry in Bridgeport with his brother Ed for fifty years before retiring in 1996. Growing up, Bill was a talented basketball player, starting for the Bassick High School team that one the New England High School Basketball Championship of 1940 and for the University of Connecticut. Our dad was born in an apartment over a store that stood at what is now the left field fence of Blue Fish Stadium.  He was proud to have been from Bridgeport, and loved and cherished his memories and all his friends from Wood Park and the South End. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30am meeting directly in Notre Dame of Easton Church, 640 Morehouse Road, Easton with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be announced.
