Obituary

William G. (Bill) Reilly, age 93, of Avon, beloved husband for 68 years of Margaret M. Reilly, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2010 following a short illness. He was born in Bridgeport, son of the late William S. and Catherine Reilly. Bill was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Air Forces in Italy and North Africa as a B-25 navigator. After the war, he lived in West Haven, Cheshire and Branford before relocating to Sarasota, FL, where he resided until returning to Connecticut in 2006. Bill was a successful, well-known salesman in the wholesale plumbing and heating field, and was President of Meriden Pipe & Supply in Meriden for several years before retiring in 1981. A loving father, grandfather and great- grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bill could always be found working around the house and yard on various projects or working on his boat when time permitted. In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by two sons, William G. Reilly, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Norcross, GA; and David J. Reilly and his wife Louise of West Simsbury. He also leaves four grandchildren, Christine Reilly Amaya and her husband John of Canton, MI, and Timothy Reilly of Norcross, GA; Megan Reilly Bayless and her husband Benjamin of San Clemente, CA, and Shannon Reilly of New York City. Bill is also survived by two great- grandchildren, Reilly and James Bayless, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marie McConaughy and Gertrude Ryan. Friends are invited to attend graveside services, Friday at 11:00am in St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, please follow Redgate signs after entering main gate. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Trumbull. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
