Albert J. Lima

Albert John Lima, age 93, of Trumbull, CT, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull. He was the youngest son of Mary and John Lima. Born and raised in Newport, RI, he graduated from Rogers High School in 1946. He also graduated from the Newport Business School and Bryant College, Providence, RI with a BS degree in accounting. Albert was in the US Army during the Korean situation and stationed at Fort Devens, MA and. Camp Drum, NY where he was honorably discharged in 1952. He was employed as an accountant for Allied Chemical in Hopewell, VA. He left that employment in 1961 for a position with the Air Force. That position brought him to Connecticut in which he reviewed pricing changes to missile contracts between the Air Force and the American Machinery and Foundry Company in Stamford. Upon abolishment of the missile program, he transferred to the Department of Defense and became a contract administrator and administered DOD contracts with AVCO Lycoming and Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. He retired in 1993 when he was a supervisor within the Department of Defense. Albert’s favorite pastime was listening to music especially opera, classical and popular vocal artists. He was proud of the fact that he was a subscriber to the Metropolitan Opera for over fifty years. Also for many years he attended theatre in NY, Westport, CT, concerts at Carnegie Hall and ballet by the American Ballet Theatre. He is survived by his dear friend Michael F. Sorge, Trumbull, CT, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers John A. Lema of Newport, RI and Joseph A. Lima of Goleta, CA. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00a.m., from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport RI and at 10:30a.m., in the Church of Jesus Saviour, 509 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Columba’s Cemetery, Middletown, RI. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m., in Memorial Funeral Home.
