Ann Elizabeth Schaffer of Bridgeport died on December 22, 2019, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center while undergoing treatment for severe pneumonia. Ann had been battling cancer for several years and was undergoing experimental treatments. She was born February 1 1959 in Orange, New Jersey. She lived with her mother and father, Lucy Petrecaro (1927–2001) and Harry Schaffer (1927–2011), in Livingston, New Jersey; Danville, California; Gothambourg, Sweden; and Westport, Connecticut. Ann graduated Staples High School in 1977 and attended Emerson College. She had lived in Bridgeport since 2000. During her years in Bridgeport Ann was a familiar figure in Beardsley Park and the surrounding blocks, where she regularly walked her beloved Schipperke, Winter Moon. She had a generous spirit and was always willing to help a friend. She loved photographing dogs and flowers. After starting cancer treatment Ann stayed for extended periods at Bridgeport Manor, where she was much loved by her fellow residents. During her long periods of illness, she passed the time with coloring and crafts projects. She received assistance from Helping Others to Succeed of Bridgeport, and loved and trusted her support people, Clotilda Adorno and Mellonie Williams. Ann is survived by a brother, David (Nancy), of Clifton Park, New York; and a sister, Mary, of Tucson, Arizona. A celebration-of-life memorial service will be held Saturday from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m., in Redgate—Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, followed by a gathering at the Parallel Post Restaurant at the Trumbull Marriott Hotel.
