Benjamin Mellow, Jr., age 88 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Mary Brittenum Mellow, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his family. Benjamin was born on May 18, 1929 in Bridgeport, son of the late Benjamin Sr., and Gwendolin Edwards Mellow and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. He was the owner and operator of Pequonnock Cleaners and Tailoring.  Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Mary include his devoted children; son Brandon W. Boone of Bridgeport, daughters Ruth G. Rogers of West Haven and Benita Mellow-Lee and husband James of Cumberland, VA, his siblings Thelma “Tess” Clark of Northport, FL, Earl and wife Mary of Las Vegas, Leo and wife Leah of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Michael and wife Gail of Bridgeport, six cherished grandchildren Tracy, Christopher, Amber, Kishon, Khiana, and Branae, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Benjamin is predeceased by siblings Alfred, Joseph, Doris and Anna Mellow. Friends may call Friday from 9:00am to 10:00am, in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and again from 10:30am to 11:30am in the First Baptist Church, 28 North Street, Milford, followed by a service at 11:30am with the Rev. Carleton Giles, officiating.
