Frances Wells Tenney, RN.
Longtime Trumbull resident, departed this life on January 10, 2022, 1 month shy of her 101st birthday.
Born in Reidsville, NC February 10, 1921. She was an only child who became a mother to seven children, grandmother to 14, great grandma to 16, and aunt to several nieces and nephews.
After graduation from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC, she served her country during WWII as a nurse attached to Balboa Hospital in San Diego. There she married Joseph W. Tenney, a Marine who was then deployed to the South Pacific. When reunited, they started a family and in 1961, moved to CT, settling in Trumbull 57 years ago. Along the way she established and remained friends with many.
A retired RN, she worked at Park City Hospital in Bridgeport amongst several others in her long career as both a nurse and a mother.
She was a parishioner of St Theresa’s in Trumbull and was active in many programs, especially the home visitation initiative.
She will always be remembered for her favorite expression: “I love you more”.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph and leaves seven children Joseph (Rocky) Tenney, Frances (Sanci) Tenney, Jeanne Stone, Deborah Tenney, Marilyn Place, Caroline Pelak, Michael Tenney, Annemarie Zeier and extended loving family.
The family extends special thanks to her caregivers and friends for all the support and loving care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa’s Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, CT on Wednesday, January 19 at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Long Hill Burial Grounds, Middlebrooks Avenue. Trumbull.
A celebration of Mom’s Life will be held at a later date in the Spring.
