Tribute

Gene R. Lasswell Swanson Carpentier R.N., age 97, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 28, at Branford Hills Health Care Center surrounded by her family.She was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Everett and Ruth Hansen.  She is a past resident of Trumbull, Stratford, Killingworth, and Branford.  Gene graduated from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in 1942 and worked at Bridgeport Hospital in the Maternity Department.  She was a lifetime member of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association.  She volunteered at the Kennedy Center and was a member of the Southbury Training School Home and School Association.  Gene also was a faithful volunteer at St. Joseph’s Manor in Trumbull.  She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and friend to many.  She loved the seashore (Lordship & Newport), cooking, gardening, and most important people, impacting all that knew her. Gene is survived by her loving son, David Swanson and wife Lisa of Killingworth, step-daughters Jeannine McCann of Stratford, Corinne Bylone and husband James, and Lori Carpentier, of Florida.  She is also survived by grandchildren Timothy Swanson of Ohio, and Stephanie and Evan Swanson of Killingworth, CT as well as step-grandchildren Michelle McGuire of Stratford, Sean McCann of Southbury, John Carpentier, Laura and James Bylone of Florida.  She also leaves behind seven step-great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her first husband, Stanley Swanson, her second husband Robert Carpentier, her daughter Marilyn Swanson, her step-son Richard Carpentier and her step-son-in-law Michael McCann. We are extremely grateful for the staff at Branford Hills who loved and cared for her these last three years. Friends may greet her family on Friday, February 1, 2019, 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, CT.
