George R. Pelham

George R. Pelham, age 93, passed away on Sunday January 2, 2022 in his home with his family by his side. The son of George and Madelyn Pelham, he was born and lived in Bridgeport for most of his life, raising his family there with his beloved late wife, Caroline. He was a devoted, loving husband and father, with his family always being his first priority. George was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War as a military police officer. After his discharge from the Army, he continued his career in the Bridgeport Police Department, where he achieved the rank of detective. Survivors include his son Bob Pelham and his wife Corrine of South Carolina, his daughter Patty Sheehan and her husband Terry of Trumbull, his grandson Chris Johnson and his wife Angie of North Carolina, his cousin Peggy Hemphill of Washington, with whom he had a special relationship, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 10:45a.m., from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 11:30a.m., in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow with full military honors in Long Hill Burial Grounds. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., in  the funeral home.
