Harriet Lajoie Comboni, age 88, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Lutheran Home, Southbury. She was predeceased by her two beloved husbands, Fred Lajoie and Douglas Comboni. Harriet was a longtime resident of the Botsford section of Newtown. She managed Fred’s Construction Co. with her late husband, drove special needs children for Bennett’s Bus Co. of Newtown, was a receptionist for Ashlar of Newtown, and retired from International Scientific Communications of Shelton, where she was in marketing and trade events. Harriet’s social and civic involvement included the Business and Professional Woman’s Club, Lady’s Auxiliary of the Botsford Fire Co., Newtown Republican Town Committee, Striders Drum Corp and Girl Scouting. Survivors include her beloved children, Fred Lajoie and wife Patty of Clinton, Norman Lajoie of Thomaston and Deb Barker and husband Don of Watertown, two brothers, Walter Haller and wife Irene of Hamden and Norman Haller and wife Joy of Easton, two sisters, Lavinia Beardsley and Margaret Schwartz, both of Shelton, three grandchildren, Jason and Brett Barker and Dakotah Lajoie, six great grandchildren, Dylan, Cole, Kayla, Logan, Emma and Jack Barker and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husbands, she was predeceased by her parents, Emil and Lavinia Green Haller and two brothers, Richard and Bob Haller. Friends may call Sunday, from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, a prayer service to be offered at 3:00p.m., with Pastor Leo McIlrath, D.Min., officiating.
