Tribute

Jacqueline Syretz Thorpe, age 85, went home to be with the Lord December 18, 2019. Born in Bridgeport, CT on October 26, 1934, daughter of the late Frank and Mildred McCue of Bridgeport, CT.

“Jackie” spent most of her life in Huntington, CT where she raised her four children. She had an infectious personality, a seemingly never-ending amount of energy and a creative, entrepreneurial spirit.

Jacqueline graduated from Warren Harding HS and the University of Bridgeport, Fones School of Dental Hygiene. While studying at University of Bridgeport, she was crowned Wisteria Queen; one of the many highlights of her life.  As a dental hygienist, she was always seeking cutting edge technology and practices to incorporate in her work.

As an outflow of her love of children and passion for teaching she owned and operated a nursery school and daycare center for many years. (Cinderella School House and Kinderhaus Nursery & Day School, Inc.) which was ahead of the curve for those times and known lovingly as “Miss Jackie”. She also loved reading/learning, playing the piano and was civic and spiritually minded.

She was active in Jr. Womans Club, PTA, taught Sunday School and enjoyed being Choir Mother for a time. In her later years, she earned her Masters Degree in Church History, obtained a Ministerial License and touched many lives with her caring and loving approach. She will be dearly missed.

Jacqueline is survived by three children, Tracey Kleinwaks and her husband Randy of Randolph, NJ; Jill Beatrice and her husband James of Newington, CT; Richard Syretz, Jr. and his wife Estelle of Manassas, VA. She was predeceased by her son, Craig Syretz. Jacqueline had seven loving grandchildren; Jason, Justin and Elyssa Kleinwaks; Trevor and Tyler Wakeley; Catherine Dicicco and Carolyn Syretz and one cherished great-granddaughter, Emily Wakeley. Being the eldest of three, Jacqueline is survived by her two siblings, Frank McCue of Ormond Beach, FL and Colleen Comunale and husband Anthony of Roxbury, CT and two beloved nephews and a niece; Anthony, Carter and Rachael.
