James T. Dowd, Jr., age 74 of Fairfield, beloved husband of Andrea R. Tristine Dowd, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, in St. Vincent’s Medical Center. James was born in Lawrence, MA, son of the late James T. and Alexina Delima Rousseau Dowd, and was a lifelong Bridgeport area resident. He was a retired iron worker for Iron Workers Local 424 and was a Marine Veteran. James was a member of the Knights of Columbus Park City Council #16, the American Legion Post #177, the Fairfield Elks #2220, and the Marine League.  Survivors in addition to his wife include his devoted children; Robert J. Dowd and wife Cathy of Stratford, Sheriann Pokoik and husband Davin of Fairfield, two cherished grandchildren Justin Novey Alsop and Gracie Lee Ann Pokoik, brothers-in-law Brian Gilbey, and Kenneth Kertesz and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son Shaun Patrick Dowd and sisters-in-law Sheila Gilbey and Donna Kertesz. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00a.m., meeting directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial, followed by full military honors.
