Joan C. Condon of Fairfield Connecticut the beloved wife of the late Robert O. Condon peacefully passed away at home on June 6, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Francis H. Costello and Agnes Green Costello of Stratford. She happily resided in the Stratfield section of Fairfield since 1955. Her upbringing in Stratford center was always a source of great childhood memories, amusing anecdotes, and life learned lessons. All of which were passed on to her family. Joan graduated Stratford High School in 1949 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from New Haven State Teachers College now Southern Connecticut State University in 1953. Upon graduating she secured a sixth grade teaching position and was on the faculty of Wilcoxson Elementary school in Stratford for a number of years before starting her own family. Joan also assisted her husband and played an integral role in a family owned business, Southern Connecticut Calculators, for 20 years before retiring in 1990. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and was active for years on church and school committees. Joan was also a member of the Southern Connecticut State University Alumni Association. Survivors include her two devoted daughters, Linda C. Tippy of Syosset, New York and Margaret C. Brown of Windham, Maine, 3 grandchildren, Meghan York and her husband Mark of Windham, Maine, Kristan Cox and her husband Gregory of Portland, Maine and Glenn L Tippy and Marissa of Putnam Valley, New York. She had five great grandchildren, Brock, Lydia, Vivian, Francine and Miles. She is survived by her brother, Kevin Costello and his wife Tina of Bridgeport, her sister-in-law Rita of Windsor Locks, several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother F. Harry Costello, her brother-in-law, Thomas W Condon and her sister-in-law, Mary C. Condon. At Joan’s request all services will be private. The family will plan a Celebration of Her Life later this summer at her daughter’s home in Maine.
