Joan Marie Galla

Joan Marie Galla, age 90 formerly of Trumbull passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023. Born in Bridgeport she was the daughter of the late John J. and Gizella Buda Galla. Joan was a graduate of the College of Saint Elizabeth, New Jersey, and received her masters and 6th year certification from Fairfield University. She was a retired Principal of Fawn Hollow Elementary school in Monroe. She was the prior Principal of Nichols School in Stratford. She taught as an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University. Joan had previously taught in Trumbull and Bridgeport and was a Docent of the Yale University Art Gallery since 1990.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the International Honor Society for Female Educators, and the Outstanding Young Women of America, 1966. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers, Thomas S. Galla, and Dr. Edward J Galla, sister, Dorothy Nichter, and is survived by 12 nieces and nephews, several grandnieces and nephews, and several great grandnieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30am at Saint Stephen’s Church Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
