Joan (Barbarino) Stokes, age 91 passed away January 11, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Lena Cataldo Barbarino. Prior to residing in Trumbull for the past three years, she lived in Marietta, Georgia for 40 years and West Nyack, New York where she and her husband raised their three children, Joan (Vitiello), Wayne (Mary Ann) and Kenneth. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Donald F. Stokes and her siblings, Jimmy, John, Connie, Angie and Joseph. Joan loved owning her hair salon, Color & Comb by Joan, for many years. She loved glamor and took great pride in looking stylish. Always one for a party, Joan enjoyed playing cards, dominos, bocci and knitting hats, scarves and shawls for cancer patients. She loved to prepare her Italian family recipes for family and friends who were very happy to enjoy all of them. Joan loved and was very proud of all her grandchildren. They were the joy of her life. She is survived by Joseph (Paige) Vitiello, Derek (Kelly) Vitiello, Devin (Nikki) Vitiello, Wayne D. Stokes, Jr. (Sophie), Erica (Tom) Donigan, Kerry (Bobby) Stokes-Mosier, Michelle and Jennifer Jordan and Haley Young. She was also blessed with 19 great grandchildren who brought so much joy to her life. She is also survived by nieces and nephews whom she also loved dearly. Joan's family thanks the many health care providers from Spring Meadows, Ludlowe Health Center, Bridgeport Hospital and St. Joseph's Manor who cared for her over the past three years. We are forever grateful for their dedication and hard work caring for the elderly and infirmed. A celebration of Joan's life will be held at a later date.
