John J. Anderson, age 83 of Newtown passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 in his home. John was the beloved husband of Rose Dattolo Anderson. Born in 1933, John grew up in “Strawberry Patch”, Mamaroneck, NY and has been a resident of Newtown, CT for the past 46 years. He spent most of his career in heavy operator construction and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 478. He loved spending time with his family and will be remembered as a hard worker whose favorite hobby was using his talents to help others. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 53 years include his six children, Susan Lopes, John Russell, Christine Hamed and her husband Rich, Rick Anderson, Ken Anderson and his wife Daisy, Karen Anderson and her wife Megan, 16 grandchildren, Kirby Pichotto and her husband John, Kaitlin Lamacchia and her husband Justin, Kelsey Kierstead and her husband Tyler, Richard Hamed, Lauren Hamed, Patricia Adamo and her husband Anthony, Christine Hamed, Gregory Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Emily Anderson, Jackson Anderson, Harrison Anderson, McKinley Anderson, Cole Smith, Ellie Smith, Grant Smith, Bailey Wright and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Aaron Lopes. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:30am in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may greet his family Thursday morning 9:30-11:30am at the funeral home.
