Margaret “Peggy” Ann Magyar

Margaret “Peggy” Ann Magyar, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed peacefully from this world due to brain cancer on April 7, 2022 in Canaan, CT at the age of 82.  She was surrounded by friends and family at the time of her death.

She was born Margaret Ann Figlar to Andrew and Margaret Figlar on December 11, 1939 in Bridgeport, CT.  After graduating from The University of Bridgeport with a bachelor’s degree in history, she met her husband Louis J Magyar Jr.  Together, they had three children: Louis J Magyar III, Margaret L O’Dell (Magyar), and Andrew J Magyar.

Peggy loved the outdoors, flora, and fauna and was encyclopedic in her knowledge of everything nature.  Over her lifetime, she kept horses, goats, chickens, and any sort of creature you could imagine.  She enjoyed breeding and raising both cats and dogs.  She enjoyed keeping a huge variety of houseplants thriving, many of which are rare and exotic.

She was as skilled in the kitchen as she was in the field and could prepare outstanding family meals from unimaginable ingredients.  She volunteered at the local thrift shop where she enjoyed serving the public.

Peggy is preceded by both her parents and husband.  She is survived by her children Louis, Margaret, and Andrew, her brother Andrew Figlar, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A short graveside service will be held at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT for family and close friends.
