Mario A. Briganti, age 92, of Trumbull passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Hacking Briganti. Born in Mount Vernon, NY, he was the son of Joseph and Rose Sorrentino Briganti. Mr. Briganti served proudly as a Staff Sgt. in U.S. Army Air Corps.  During his service in World War II he participated in multiple campaigns in the liberation of the oppressed.  Attached to a crew on a B-24 Liberator, his aircrafts were shot down twice by enemy fire. His final mission resulted in him being MIA for months. Upon returning to the states, he later married the love of his life and raised his family.  He was a certified HVAC service manager working at Fairco for most of his career. He enjoyed golfing and bowling with the Tashua Men’s Club and Trumbull Seniors. Survivors include his loving daughters, Karen Pepin and her husband, Tom of Trumbull and Joan Demers and her husband Neil of East Lyme, four grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Pepin and Sean and Rachel Demers, his sister, Grace Law, his  brother, Allan Briganti and his wife Bea, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Sam and Paul Briganti. Funeral services will be held MONDAY at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends may greet his family MONDAY morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment with Full Military Honors will be TUESDAY at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford, Massachusetts.
