Michael F. McKernan, age 64, of Trumbull, Connecticut, beloved husband of Tracy R. Maus, passed away suddenly Friday March 3, 2023, in St Vincent’s Medical Center. Michael was born in Port Chester, NY, son of Ann Weiss McKernan of Fairfield and the late Francis (Frank) McKernan. Mike was recently retired having worked as an IT Program Manager for GE for 24 years and most recently as IT Project Manager for Subway of Milford, CT. Mike loved watching his son Matthew grow up and was a passionate spectator at his many baseball games and tournaments through little league and College. Mike was so proud of Matthew’s accomplishments and was always there for him. Michael was also an avid dog walker, well known around town walking miles every day with his best furry friends Max and Gentry. From a young man on he had a passion for hiking, from Seattle, The Rocky Mountains to the Grand Teton’s out west and in the northeast with his wife and son, his brother, and friends. He was a beloved Uncle and godfather, known as Uncle M&M to his Midwest nieces and nephews. He was the “fun” uncle and they all loved being around him. Mike enjoyed traveling with his wife Tracy and they have precious memories from the trips they took together. He loved living in Trumbull and particularly the neighborhood of Sarenee Circle, he would describe it as “magical”. Mike was best known for his infamous belly laugh and love of a good joke. His humor was contagious and will ring in our ears for eternity. He will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and quick wit and tremendous loyalty to friends and family. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife and mother include his cherished son Matthew F. McKernan of Trumbull, a brother William E. McKernan and wife Pamela of Monroe, a sister Julie A. Whitlock and husband John of Fairfield and many loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00am., meeting directly in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at a later date in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield, CT.
