Patricia Ann Murphy Kasper, R.N., age 82 of Stratford passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Joseph T. Kasper Jr. Born on February 22, 1936 in Burlington, VT she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Lourena Gosse Murphy. Pat graduated from Cathedral High School in 1954 where she played the clarinet in the school band and worked at the Flynn Theater. She graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in 1957 where she met Joe on a blind date and they were married in 1958. Pat loved being a nurse and was very proud of spending her entire 38 year career at St. Vincent’s where she became Evening Nursing Supervisor. She loved being part of the community. She has been a part of the Barnum Festival since the 1970’s, chairing Caribbean Night Events and the Barnum Road Show many times, and with Joe during his time as Ringmaster. Pat had a leadership role with the Fairfield County March of Dimes, volunteered with Trumbull Ambulance Services, and taught CPR. She played softball and enjoyed time on her boat! Most of all she loved her place in Quechee, VT where she spent countless fun times with family and friends skiing, celebrating New Year’s, and enjoying her roots. She was an avid reader especially enjoyed James Patterson books, and going to her favorite place, Knapp’s Landing for a glass of Pinot Grigio. In addition to her husband of sixty years Joe she is survived by her loving daughters, Mary Beth Rapice, Susan Kasper Riccio, and Nancy Kasper and four grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Joseph and Annette Rapice, and Katie and Victor Riccio, a brother-in-law Arthur Amend, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Murphy Peterson. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly in Our Lady Peace Church, 651 Stratford Road, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial.
