Peter E. Prevelige

Peter E. Prevelige of Bridgeport, formerly of Fairfield passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2022 at The Watermark. He was 95 years young. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosemary Reilly Prevelige. Peter was the son of Peter and Mary Prevelige and was raised in Passaic County, New Jersey.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He graduated from New York University with a Masters in Business Administration and spent his career as an accountant. He is survived by six children, Peter E. Prevelige Jr. and Trish Strain of Birmingham, AL, John R. Prevelige and Maria Palmieri of Monroe, Chris L. Prevelige and Jill of Trumbull, Andrew W. Prevelige and Slavica of Easton, Maria  Sweet and John of Doylestown, PA and Robert J. Prevelige and Sarah of Milford, MA, thirteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He leaves behind his dear companion, Carolyn Wyckoff of Trumbull.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine deSmet and his daughter-in-law, Beth.

Peter had a creative flair and a green thumb. He built beautiful gardens at his home and his stunning bouquets graced his home. He tried his hand at growing fruit trees and his vegetable garden was prolific. He enjoyed cooking and baking, and frequently experimented with new recipes. He loved classical music and worked at teaching himself the piano in his eighties. Peter was a devout Catholic and attended daily mass.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Monday morning 9:00am – 10:00am at Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
