Richard P. Landy

Richard P. Landy, age 87 of Fairfield, CT passed away, Monday, May 7, 2018, at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Yolanda Nagy Landy. Born in Bridgeport, Dick was the son of the late Frank and Katherine Schallu Landy.  Dick was a graduate of Fairfield Prep, and Fairfield University. He was a member of the Fairfield University baseball team, where he excelled, and was affectionately known as “Lefty” Landy, and was a member of the Fairfield University Hall of Fame. During the Korean War, Dick served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, as a jet fighter-pilot. Following his service in the military Dick went onto a thirty-year career at Sikorsky Aircraft. Dick thoroughly enjoyed his time spent with friends, and family; playing golf and tennis, and volunteering his time assisting those less fortunate. His, was a mindful life, spurred by love of family, kindness, humor, dignity, and his belief in God. Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving daughters, Mary Pat Kelly and her husband Kevin of Colchester, Josie Grinnell of Easton, Lucy Healy and her husband Chris of Melrose, MA, and eleven grandchildren, Michael, Paige, Ceili, and Maggie Grinnell, Sean and Molly Kelly, and Chris, Blaise, Conlin, Erin, and Quin Healy. Dick was predeceased by his sister Janet Southwell. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00am meeting directly at the Egan Chapel at Fairfield University with a Mass of Christian Burial. Military Honors will be rendered following Mass. Friends may call Friday 5-8pm at Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
