Richard E. Michel

October 17, 1940 ~ December 29, 2020 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Tribute

Richard Emil Michel, age 80, of Monroe, passed away on December 29, 2020.  Born in Bridgeport on October 17, 1940 to the late Emil and Anna (Ondek) Michel.  He was predeceased by brother Alfred and loving wife of 23 years, Dorothy (Feltovic) Michel, and survived by daughter Christine Michel (partner Robert Boncoddo) and devoted partner of 27 years, Margaret Rose Pulaski. Dick graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical High School auto mechanic program and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving three years.  He worked as an installer for Western Electric Company, retiring 31 years later from successor AT&T.  In “retirement” he was co-operator of M&M Mobile Pressure Washing, Inc. He was a faithful Catholic parishioner of St. Stephen and St. Jude Churches; a life member of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department; coach and organizer with Monroe Youth Athletic Association; three-time past president of the Monroe Lions Club; member of American Legion, Sippin-Winspur Post 176; union member CWA; member of Hey Jude Players (St. Jude) and Old Academy Singers (Easton); served on the Monroe Memorial Day Parade Committee; member of Greater Bridgeport Men’s Garden Club. When he wasn’t sharing his time and talents with charitable groups, he enjoyed building or fixing things at his workbench; fishing and trapping; gardening; bird-watching and all things of nature; breakfast with “the guys” (and all other meals!); travel and trips to the casino; doo-wop and country music; watching sports (a loyal Mets and Vikings fan); stamp collecting; trains. Warm-hearted, thoughtful, devoted, honest, a genuine Good Guy - it is impossible to capture this beautiful spirit in the space of a few paragraphs.  He was the best father, friend, and sweetheart we could ever wish for and will be held forever close in our hearts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull. Private graveside services will follow with full military honors.  Space is limited and masks required due to Covid protocols.  There will be a full celebration of life when it is safe to gather.
