Richard H. Smull, age 74 of Bridgeport passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Mohs) Smull. Born in Trenton, NJ, Richard was the son of the late Walter and Edna (Robinson) Smull. Richard had a long and distinguished career of more than 45 years in the insurance industry, working in Hartford and Manhattan for Industrial Risk Insurers, and Frenkel & Company. He also served in the U.S. Army and was recognized as an outstanding drill instructor. To those who knew Richard, he was also an avid, life-long fan of NY sports teams; especially the Giants and Yankees as well as a devoted fan of the UCONN Huskies women’s and men’s basketball teams. He graduated from Fryeburg Academy (Fryeburg, Maine) where he played on the varsity baseball, basketball and football teams, and from the University of Connecticut (Storrs), where he studied history.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Karen, sons, Geoff (and his wife Naoko) of Tokyo and Tim (and his fiancée Bailey Morgan) of Bridgeport and his beloved grandson Koh Smull.
