Julia Muriel Fitzpatrick Pinto, age 86 of Bridgeport died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Watermark at 3030 Park Avenue in Bridgeport. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank L. Pinto Jr. Born in Bridgeport Muriel was the daughter of the late John and Julia Dillon Fitzpatrick. Muriel's main focus in life centered around caring for her family, her friends, and those in need. She was always there to offer comfort, support, and sound advice to her many "kids"; her own, her grandchildren, her foster children, and the countless nieces, nephews, and cousins who flocked to her door. She loved her two "baby" brothers and they loved her back. Muriel held several offices in the American Legion Auxiliary and spent many years volunteering at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. She will be deeply missed by all she touched, but her genuine goodness lives on in all of us. Survivors include her sons, Tom Kush and his wife Harriet of O’Fallon, IL and John Pinto of Greenwich, daughter Karen Pinto Kastner and her husband, Matthew of Newtown, foster children, Sharon Unwin of Ventura, CA, Dana Mastri and his wife Heike of Naugatuck, and Carol Mastri of Bridgeport, brother Thomas D. Fitzpatrick and his wife Peggy of Bridgeport, sister-in-law Linda Gosso of Milford, Millie Mountjoy of Bridgeport, Patricia Treszi of Phoenix, AZ, grandsons, Tom Kush Jr. of Salisbury, MD, Frank Kush of O’Fallon, IL, and Paul Kastner of Oakland, CA, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brother John F. Brophy Sr. and sister-in-law Ann Brophy Kimball. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00am meeting directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Tuesday 4-8pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
